10 Years! How is that even possible??
10 years is something. Most people we told didn't believe we were old enough to have been married for ten years. Others just mentioned that in this day and time, 10 years was very impressive from young people. Either way... it was the best trip I have ever been on in my life....
There's something special about an anniversary trip that you don't have on your honeymoon.. a deeper appreciation of being alone together! We have more kids now, more responsibilities.. just more life. Our honeymoon was sweet, and memorable.. but nothing like this. Now we have history. We were beginning a life together then, but now we have a life together.. and all the beautiful things that entails...
We had originally planned to visit Myrtle Beach, the place where we had visited when we went on our honeymoon. I had even looked at the exact same hotel, and thought that would be nice. However, deciding that was a very popular vacation spot, we decided to visit Emerald Isle on the North Carolina coast. Its honestly one of my most favorite places in the world....

Since we both love photography, we spent a lot of time taking photos of the beach, at day.. and night...

We spent a lot of time reading on the beach, side by side.. he almost finished his book, and I at least put a good dent in Gone with the Wind lol.... We walked on the pier and watched people fish. Stephen decided he wanted to wait for his first pier fishing trip to be with his sons... so we waited and watched, and held one another in the sea breeze. We visited Fort Macon and shopped at Beaufort....
This was my first 'unplugged' vacation lol.. as to say, the first vacation I wasn't uploading photos to social media. This break has changed the way I see social media forever... I appreciated the quietness.. the stillness. The need to just be alone, not to spend so much time tagging anyone or 'checking in'.. just being there, with him.. the love of my life.
We visited both Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout, and saw some beautiful sights during our visit....
We found a restaurant a couple of years ago when we visited Emerald Isle with my Mother and father in law, and we knew this was where we wanted to spend our date night! It's called the "Crabs Claw" and its in Atlantic Beach. It is waterfront, so we always enjoy spending time here! And the food is to DIE for!
I couldn't have asked for a better date, with a better man! Happy 10 year anniversary my love! May we have decades to share in the future!
